* In early years of the jet age, the British developed a number of significant jet combat aircraft. Near the top of the list was the English Electric "Canberra", a twin-engine bomber that was also used in reconnaissance, training, and a range of other roles. The Canberra was built in large numbers and was used by over a dozen nations. The Americans were particularly enthusiastic about the Canberra, license-building a modified series of variants as the "B-57", which saw intensive combat in Vietnam. This document provides a history and description of the Canberra and B-57.
